Project 1000 is a book drive that is aimed at distributing 1000 African Literatures to 1000 Secondary school students in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

It is a way of bridging the gap between these students and African Literature thus making some of these books available starting with a few such as The Potter’s Wheel written by Chukuemeka Ike, Purple Hibiscus written by Chimamanda Adichie, Things Fall Apart written by Chinua Achebe and lots more with a target of 1000 books in total. These books will be circulated to some of the selected secondary schools in Port Harcourt to enhance the reading culture and get these kids to love African Literature books.

Our vision is to create a generation of African readers and writers. We wish to inspire this upcoming generation to Read, Write and Create African stories. We need more Africans to tell the story of Africa from an African perspective

The project is led by Adedoyin Oladosu
